With a history of more than 1,000 years, this temple is surrounded by nature and known as a tranquil place where Buddhist wisdom has been passed down through generations. Compared with the Petal Sutra Copying Experience, copying the Heart Sutra is a more in-depth program that takes approximately one hour. Participants carefully trace the lightly printed sutra text, copying each character one by one while putting their thoughts, wishes, and intentions into every stroke. The Heart Sutra consists of approximately 276 characters and has long been copied as a Buddhist practice for calming the mind, improving concentration, and deepening spiritual reflection. Away from the noise and distractions of everyday life, you can spend time in a quiet environment, settle your thoughts, and focus fully on the act of writing. This meditative experience may offer a sense of healing as well as new personal insights. After completing the experience, you may either take your handwritten Heart Sutra home with you or dedicate it as an offering to Nyoirin Kannon, the principal Buddhist deity enshrined at the temple.
